Who I am and why I’m Here

Beautiful things

Can I just say…..I am loving blogging. Yes its early days. I have only been blogging for a few weeks. I love having a purpose to sit in front of my pc and write. What is uncertain is that anyone reads my posts. Obviously I  can see traffic is getting here. But do they like what they see? Is anyone coming back to read more content? Is it actually worth reading and engaging to the reader?

I guess when you start anything new, uncertainties creep in. What if I’m not good enough. What if everyone who reads my posts..laughs…in a bad way! What ifs!!

Taking the challenge

I want to blog. As a child and teenager I kept long gossipy diaries. I love to write. It’s as simple as that. The reason I started a blog. A modern-day diary. I also want to do this to the best of my ability. So I started looking at the WordPress resources in order to learn more about blogging. I decided to take up the “Blogging: Fundamentals” course. The first challenge is a Who am I and why am I here post.  So here goes!!

Why I started blogging

Apart from the above reasons of the longing to write, I wanted to reach out to others. My main inspiration was that I have a rare neurological disease. CIDP or Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating polyneuropathy. Yeah its a mouthful! When I was first diagnosed there was not much information on the subject. I joined a handful of forums. Then quickly left them. It wasnt for me. I’m sure it helped some people and I’m sure over time the forums have got better. It was all doom and gloom. At times turning into a competition who had the worse symptoms. I could see no positivity in being there.

My aim was to start my blog and show that life can be ok, great sometimes and manageable in a totally new way, living with this illness.

What I hadn’t realised was that once I started I had a lot more to say than I anticipated. I could literally talk about anything that I loved and was passionate about!

So much to blog!

I’ve found that you can pretty much blog about anything! There is a niche for it all. That’s what makes blogging so fantastic. Someone somewhere will love what you write about and “get” you. There maybe millions of blogs out there in this new world I have encompassed, but there is a place for everyone. I find at the moment my head is in “blog” mode. I am seeing the world I live in in a slightly different way. My thoughts go to “I could blog about that”.

Yeah I planned my blog with all my categories intact. What I have found, is that they are changing. That is great. Its opening me up to more challenges and thoughts. I may end up with a very long list of categories. Does this matter? I don’t know. I hope not!

I’m so excited!

I literally am so excited by this new venture I am undertaking. Nothing feels like hard work, well apart from all I’m learning about blogging. It’s been a long time since I learnt something with so little knowledge about the subject prior to commencing. At the same time although my head feels like its spinning, I’m having fun. Learning and fun together can’t be a bad thing can it?
